How to start a Brushcutter.

So, you got the tools, you got the moves, you’re in the mood and - most importantly - you’re ready to start mowing. Save for a short detail: your brushcutter  or strimmer simply won’t start.

To help you get started, we have compiled a step-by-step guide for safely and efficiently using our machines.

COLD ENGINE Brushcutter - Start Tips

  • First and foremost, make sure the working area is clean of any garbage, wires or small stones which may ricochet and cause injuries
  • Leave plenty of space around the machine and do not allow people or animals near it. The area within a 15m radius is considered a danger zone
  • Switch ON your machine
  • Activate the choke
  • Push the primer bulb - 5 times minimum
  • Hold the machine firmly to the ground when starting the engine
  • Pull the starter handle until you hear the engine start (the first fire)
  • Switch off the choke
  • Pull the starter handle again until the engine runs
  • Let the engine warm up at idling speed for 1 minute
  • Don’t forget your PPE!
  • Now you’re ready to get to work!
  • In order to stop the machine, move the switch to the OFF position.

HOT ENGINE Brushcutter - Start Tips

  • For safety reasons, make sure the working area is clean of any debris, small stones etc. which may ricochet and cause injuries
  • Do not allow people or animals anyway near the brushcutter - anything within a 15m radius is considered a danger zone
  • Switch ON your machine
  • Push the primer bulb - for at least 3 to 5 times
  • Make sure you hold the brushcutter firmly to the ground when starting the engine
  • Pull the starter handle again until the engine runs
  • Remember your PPE!
  • You’re now ready to start!
  • Push the switch to the OFF position to stop the machine

IF your engine doesn’t start at all:

  • Make sure you have enough fuel supply in your tank
  • Check that the switch is in the START position
  • If none of the above work, the trouble may involve excess fuel suction, an electrical fault, carburettor malfunction or an internal engine malfunction. In any of these cases we highly recommend you to consult your dealer.

Before you start working with these tools, however, please make sure that you read the Safety Instructions in the Operator’s Manual thoroughly.

Ready, set, go!
